Our Doctors

You always have the opportunity to choose your preferred GP when you attend for appointments. However, if you have an urgent need for care and your preferred GP is not available one of our other GPs will be able to assist you. All our GPs work closely together to provide the highest quality care to all patients of the practice.

 

Meet our GP Team

 

Dr Tony Isaac - Practice Principal & Owner

Tony is a fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and has worked as a GP in Newcastle since 2006. Prior to entering General Practice he worked in the fields of Orthopaedics, Occupational Medicine and Nursing. General Practice is Tony's chosen specialty, giving him the opportunity to work closely with his patients, as a team, to assess and manage their overall health. Tony has a special interest in Travel Medicine and Tropical Diseases and has completed post-graduate training in this area. He also has a special interest in orthopedics, paediatrics and educating medical students and GP registrars.

Tony is available on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and some Saturdays. Tony is not currently accepting new patients.

 

Dr Flor Soto-Rodriguez - Accepting NEW Patients

Flor completed her medical training in Colombia in 1997 and moved to Australia in 2007 to complete her General Practice training and earn her Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. She has also completed a post-graduate diploma in Skin Cancer medicine. Flor enjoys all aspects of general practice medicine and working together with patients of all ages, from babies to seniors.

Flor is available until 1.00pm on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and some Saturdays

 

 

Dr Charles Piao - Accepting NEW Patients

Charlie completed his medical degree and a Master of Pharmacology in Beijing before moving to Australia in 2004. Charlie completed his GP training in Australia, working in Sydney and rural regions of NSW, and is a fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. Charlie has also achived a post-graduate Diploma in Child Health through the Children's Hospital at Westmead. While Charlie enjoys all-round general medicine, he has a special interest in paediatrics, skin cancer and Travel Health and he holds a Certificate in Travel HealthTM from the International Society of Travel Medicine. He has also been selected to act as an examiner of new GPs as part of the College's Fellowship program.

Charlie is available Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and some Saturdays

 

 

Dr Hilary Brown - Accepting NEW Patients

Hilary completed her medical degree at the University of Newcastle in 2006 and has worked in a variety of settings across rural and regional areas of Hunter New England Health. Hilary received her Fellowship to the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2012. She enjoys the diversity of General Practice but also has a special interest in Skin Cancer Medicine, receiving a Professional Diploma in Skin Cancer Medicine through the University of Queensland in 2018.

Hilary is available Monday, Tuesday and some Saturdays

 

 

Dr Karyn Forbes - Currently on Maternity Leave

Karyn completed her Medical degree at Deakin University in 2011 after completing a Bachelor degree in Medical Radiation Science in 2004. She is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and has special interest in women's health, paediatrics, palliative care, health education and disease prevention. Karyn has also completed additional specialist training and experience in women's health with the Family Planning Association in Newcastle. She has also completed a Diploma of Child Health with the University of Sydney. Karyn is accredited to offer Mirena (IUD) services.

Karyn is available Monday, Thursday, Friday and some Saturdays

 

Dr Tarannum Rahman - Accepting NEW Patients

Tarannum completed her Medical degree at Monash Univerity (graduating with Distinction) in 2012, after completing a Bachelor of Biomedical Science (Honours) in 2008. Tarannum is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. She enjoys all aspects of General Practice medicine and has a passion for patient-centred care and particularly the opportunity for working in a team environment with patients, GP colleagues, nurses and specialist providers to ensure the best ongoing care and advocacy for her patients.

Tarannum is available Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and some Saturdays

 

Dr Sacha Cattani - Accepting NEW Patients

Sacha completed her Medical degree at the Univerity of Sydney in 2006 and she became a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2013. Sacha's practice style is passionate, always caring, interested and patient-centred. She loves all aspects of General Practice Medicine and values the importance of preventative medicine for her patients' ongoing health care.

Sacha is available Monday, Wednesday,Thursday and some Saturdays

 

Dr Oscar Cumming - Accepting NEW Patients

Oscar completed his Medical degree at the University of New England in 2014 and received Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2019. Before joining General Practice, Oscar worked as a Paediatric Registrar at Hornsby Hospital where he was responsible for general and emergecy paediatric admissions, special care nursery, obstetric care and teaching of junior doctors and medical students. Oscar enjoys working with patients of all ages and has a keen interest in all areas of General Practice medicine.

Oscar is available Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and some Saturdays

 

Dr Jacquelyn Pinkstone - Returning in early August 2019

Jacquelyn completed her Medical degree at the University of Newcastle (graduating with Distinction) in 2013. She is currently in her final year of General Practice training and enjoys all aspects of medicine, including the opportunity to provide patient-centred care to patients of all ages. Jacquelyn has a special interest in paediatrics, completing a Diploma in Chid Health through the University of Sydney in 2016. Jacquelyn has also completed additional training in women's health and is accredited to offer Mirena (IUD) services.

Jackie is currently on maternity leave but will be returning to Kotara Family Practice in August 2019.

 

Dr Max Mollenkopf - Accepting NEW Patients

Max completed his medical degree at the University of Wollongong in 2012 after completing a Bachelor of Physiotherapy at La Trobe Univerity and working as a rehabilitation physiotherapist in orthopedics for 18 months. Choosing General Practice as his medical speciality, Max completed his GP training and was awarded Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2019. Max enjoys the diversity of General Practice and the opportunity for working collaboratively with his patients.

Max is available Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and some Saturdays

 

 

Dr Alison Lancey - Accepting NEW Patients

Alison completed her medical degree at the University of Newcastle in 2011 after completing a Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics in 2004 and working as a Paediatric Dietitian for several years at Westmead Children's Hospital. Alison was awarded Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2016 and has worked as a GP and Medical Educator for GP Registrars in the local area since. Alison loves all aspects of General Practice medicine, especially children's health and the privilege of building long-term relationships with her patients.

Alison is available Thursday and some Saturdays

 

 

Dr Erin Rickard - GP Reigstrar - Accepting NEW Patients

Erin completed her medical degree at the University of New England in 2016 after completing a Masters of International Public Health and a Bachelor or Medical Science. Erin commenced her General Practice training in 2019 and will be continuing her General Practice education and experience at KFP for 12 months. She has a special interest in preventive health, women's and children's health and indigenous health and she has worked in a variety of medical fields across the Hunter New England Health system
