You always have the opportunity to choose your preferred GP when you attend for appointments. However, if you have an urgent need for care and your preferred GP is not available one of our other GPs will be able to assist you. All our GPs work closely together to provide the highest quality care to all patients of the practice.

Dr Tony Isaac - Practice Principal & Owner
Tony is a fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and has worked as a GP in Newcastle since 2006. Prior to entering General Practice he worked in the fields of Orthopaedics, Occupational Medicine and Nursing. General Practice is Tony's chosen specialty, giving him the opportunity to work closely with his patients, as a team, to assess and manage their overall health. Tony has a special interest in Travel Medicine and Tropical Diseases and has completed post-graduate training in this area. He also has a special interest in orthopedics, paediatrics and educating medical students and GP registrars.
Tony is available on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and some Saturdays. Tony is not currently accepting new patients.
Dr Flor Soto-Rodriguez - Accepting NEW Patients
Flor completed her medical training in Colombia in 1997 and moved to Australia in 2007 to complete her General Practice training and earn her Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. She has also completed a post-graduate diploma in Skin Cancer medicine. Flor enjoys all aspects of general practice medicine and working together with patients of all ages, from babies to seniors.
Flor is available until 1.00pm on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and some Saturdays
Dr Charles Piao - Accepting NEW Patients
Charlie completed his medical degree and a Master of Pharmacology in Beijing before moving to Australia in 2004. Charlie completed his GP training in Australia, working in Sydney and rural regions of NSW, and is a fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. Charlie has also achived a post-graduate Diploma in Child Health through the Children's Hospital at Westmead. While Charlie enjoys all-round general medicine, he has a special interest in paediatrics, skin cancer and Travel Health and he holds a Certificate in Travel HealthTM from the International Society of Travel Medicine. He has also been selected to act as an examiner of new GPs as part of the College's Fellowship program.

Dr Sarah Yolland - Accepting NEW Patients
Sarah completed her Medical degree at the University of NSW in 2011 (graduating with Honours) and is now a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. Sarah has a special interest in women's health, including reproductive and sexual health and is qualified to perform Mirena (IUD) insertions. Sarah also has a special interest in paediatrics and has completed a Diploma in Children's Health through Westmead Children's Hospital.

Dr Karyn Forbes - Currently on Maternity Leave
Karyn completed her Medical degree at Deakin University in 2011 after completing a Bachelor degree in Medical Radiation Science in 2004. She is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and has special interest in women's health, paediatrics, palliative care, health education and disease prevention. Karyn has also completed additional specialist training and experience in women's health with the Family Planning Association in Newcastle. She has also completed a Diploma of Child Health with the University of Sydney. Karyn is accredited to offer Mirena (IUD) services.

Dr Tarannum Rahman - Accepting NEW Patients
Tarannum completed her Medical degree at Monash Univerity (graduating with Distinction) in 2012, after completing a Bachelor of Biomedical Science (Honours) in 2008. Tarannum is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. She enjoys all aspects of General Practice medicine and has a passion for patient-centred care and particularly the opportunity for working in a team environment with patients, GP colleagues, nurses and specialist providers to ensure the best ongoing care and advocacy for her patients.

Dr Sacha Cattani - Accepting NEW Patients
Sacha completed her Medical degree at the Univerity of Sydney in 2006 and she became a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2013. Sacha's practice style is passionate, always caring, interested and patient-centred. She loves all aspects of General Practice Medicine and values the importance of preventative medicine for her patients' ongoing health care.

Dr Oscar Cumming - Returning early August 2019
Oscar completed his Medical degree at the University of New England in 2014. Since then he has completed a number of terms in the HNE hospital system, including paediatrics, emergency and general medicine. During 2017 Oscar worked as a Paediatric Registrar at Hornsby Hospital where he was involved with paediatric emergencies, general paediatric admissions, special care nursery, maternity ward and supervision and teaching of junior doctors and medical students. Oscar returned to Newcastle in 2018 and is now pursuing General Practice as his chosen speciality.
Oscar is currently completing his final term of General Practice training and will be returning to Kotara Family Practice in August 2019.
Dr Jacquelyn Pinkstone - Returning in early August 2019
Jacquelyn completed her Medical degree at the University of Newcastle (graduating with Distinction) in 2013. She is currently in her final year of General Practice training and enjoys all aspects of medicine, including the opportunity to provide patient-centred care to patients of all ages. Jacquelyn has a special interest in paediatrics, completing a Diploma in Chid Health through the University of Sydney in 2016. Jacquelyn has also completed additional training in women's health and is accredited to offer Mirena (IUD) services.
Jackie is currently on maternity leave but will be returning to Kotara Family Practice in August 2019.
Dr Stephen Sutton - GP Registrar (Year 1)
Stephen completed his Medical degree at the University of Newcastle in 2015. He has completed a number of terms in the HNE hospital system, with a particular interest in psychiatry and acute care. During 2018 Stephen worked as a Senior Resident Medical Officer at John Hunter and Maitland Hospital in Acute Medicine, covering Emergency, Cardiology and Internsive Care units. Stephen has chosen General Practice as his career path because of the opportunity to practise in a wide variety of clinical areas. Stephen is in his first year of General Practice training. He plans on completing his GP training in Newcastle and hopes to work in the local area long term as a GP with special interest in Mental Health.
